Here is some detailed information about: Knickerbocker Mansion Country Inn
The Knickerbocker Mansion Country Inn is located in the heart of Big Bear Lake, California. This historic property is an accessible year-round wonderland in southern California and conveniently located 'two hours from everywhere'. Knickerbocker Inn consists of four buildings; the mansion, two out buildings and a carriage house house. The interior of the mansion is warm and cozy. The first floor has a reception entrance, living room and dining room complete with original native rock fireplace. A second dining room converted from the exterior verandah brings the outside in. It is a perfect place to enjoy a wonderful gourmet breakfast when the weather does not permit dining on the outside patio. Meals are also a notable experience with a new commercial kitchen the creative workplace of Thomas, partner and executive chef. Breakfast is included with your stay and a treat not to be missed. The "Bistro at the Mansion" is also open for Saturday evening dining. All areas on the first floor of the Mansion are accessible including separate mens and womens restrooms. A quick trip outside across a 300' ramp takes you to the carriage house where the fully accessible Forest View III room is located. This room is accented with rustic log furniture and queen size bed, fine linen and upscale amenities. Like all Knickerbocker rooms it has a TV, VCR and private telephone (complete with voice mail messaging). The doorways are all 36" and the marble tile bath is almost as large as the bedroom. There is a tub/shower combination with grab bars and hand held shower head (bring your own bench or let them know in advance if you will be needing one). The sink is quite accessible and the toilet has grab bars. Overall a very nice setup. You can tell that innkeepers Thomas and Stanley have put a lot of work into making the place accessible. Major infrastructure of the property had to be changed to become barrier free while special care has been taken not to destroy the charm and ambiance of the original structures. The Knickerbocker Inn welcomes you to join them for a white Christmas.
